Where is my family tree stored?
Free trees are kept in your browser. With Full Access and Google Drive connected, your family tree is saved in your own Google Drive. My Lineage Tree keeps the account and service information needed to operate the product.
Why My Lineage Tree connects to Google
Google Sign-In lets you securely access your My Lineage Tree account. With Full Access, the optional Google Drive connection lets My Lineage Tree create and update your family-tree files in your own Drive using the limited drive.file permission. My Lineage Tree does not request access to all files in your Google Drive.
What can this site see in my Google account?
Your name, email and profile picture to sign you in, and only the files this app created in Drive. It cannot see the rest of your Drive.
What if my connection drops while I am editing?
A working copy is kept in your browser as you edit. If saving to Drive fails, the editor tells you and retries automatically, so you do not lose work.
What do I get for the one-time payment?
For US$4.99 you unlock unlimited people in your family tree, Google Drive saving, photo galleries, person audio and video memories, Full Access tree themes, PDF and PNG export, printing and private read-only sharing. Family stories, occupations and the family timeline are available on every tree. The free version lets you build up to 10 people to see how it works.
Can I share the tree without giving people editing access?
Yes. A private share link is read-only. You can hide details of living relatives and turn the link off at any time. Premium collaboration is separate: invited contributors submit proposals that you approve before they reach the master tree.
What is Premium?
Premium is the optional subscription layer for collaboration, family update notifications, subscription-only themes and future Premium features. Permanent Full Access remains a separate one-time purchase. Cancelling Premium does not delete your account or family-tree files.
Can I use it on my phone?
You can open your tree, zoom, pan, search and view people on a phone, and make basic edits. Building a large tree is more comfortable on a tablet or computer.
